With the signature edition of the Gibson Sheryl Crow Country Western guitar, the traditional American manufacturer presents a truly special instrument dedicated to the famous style icon Sheryl Crow. This instrument communicates the gentle sound of a Country Western Standard but with a heat-treated top for a powerful and balanced sound, giving the impression of a guitar that has been played for decades. Additionally, this extremely well-designed signature model features a premium Amulet M pickup system, which amplifies the acoustic sound and reproduces it in a natural and unaltered manner. The Gibson Sheryl Crow Country Western comes with a moulded case and a Gibson Accessory Kit.
Due to its very pronounced mid and high frequencies, the wood of the American Sitka spruce is often used for the construction of acoustic instruments. This wood is easily recognizable by its narrow, even grain and balanced sound. The material, which is interspersed with contrasting flames, is especially well matched to other woods thanks to its clear and discreet response, and therefore goes extremely well with the voluminous square-shoulder body of the Country-Western model. The wood, which has been artificially dried with a complex thermal treatment, shows increased vibration behaviour, generating a smooth response for which conventionally dried woods would have to be played in for years. This effect is supported by a wafer-thin nitro lacquer and Scalloped-X-Bracing, allowing the wood to move more freely.
To enrich the overall sound with the appropriate substance, the manufacturer uses fine mahogany wood for the body, which with its fine and even grain and its warm sound character discreetly colours the bass and middle frequencies. Here, again, the thin nitro coating plays an important role, allowing the material plenty of flexibility and thus a smooth sound development, which also benefits from the spacious design. Separated from cream-coloured multi-ply bindings, the reddish wood forms a perfect contrast to the other materials and creates an overall aesthetic that is hard to beat.
For an especially comfortable grip, the Gibson Sheryl Crow Country Western features a slim mahogany neck with a fine rosewood fretboard that is delicately decorated with eye-catching Mother-of-Pearl parallelogram inlays. A bone nut and a corresponding saddle ensure perfect intonation in all 20 frets, which are extremely easy to operate thanks to the generous 43.8 mm nut width and a short 628.6 mm scale length. A binding along the fretboard creates a pleasant transition between neck and fretboard.
The precise Gotoh nickel tuners with Butterbean machine heads, which are inserted into the characteristic head plate with the proud manufacturer's logo, provide a particularly striking indication of the guitar's special construction. Another highlight is a large Tortoise Hummingbird shape pickguard decorating the top, which is lacquered in an antique-cherry finish, giving the overall piece a very special touch. For amplified use, the manufacturer includes an Amulet M pickup system that reproduces the acoustic sound of the guitar cleanly and unadulterated with the help of two transducers that are mounted under the top. The guitar comes including a case and Gibson accessory kit.
