With the strictly limited Laney LA100BL 50th Anniversary Tony Iommi Stack, the Birmingham-based amplifier company presents an exact copy of the legendary electric guitar amps and loudspeakers that the pioneer of heavy sound used to record the first Black Sabbath album in the late 1960s and during the final "The End" world tour in 2016. Accordingly, the hand-wired half stack, which consists of the Laney LA100BL guitar amplifier and the Laney LA412 Cabinet, convinces with its particularly authentic sound, from which the necessary gain reserves can be extracted using the Laney TI Boost, also included in delivery.
The Laney LA100BL tube amplifier is handcrafted by Laney Black Country Custom and corresponds to Tony Iommis sound in the late 1960s down to the smallest details. The guitar amp uses four EL34 tubes to deliver an ear-splitting 100 watts of power, while the single-channel preamp is equipped with three 12AX7s, each with two bass and two treble inputs with separate gain controls. To adjust the sound, the classic 3-band tone control and a presence control for the treble in the output stage are available. Another special feature is the box frame transformer (Box Frame Transformer) specially designed for the Laney LA100BL, which significantly shapes the sound.
The Laney LA412 Cabinet is also handcrafted in England and, like its vintage model, features an oversized birch multiplex case with a characteristically bevelled front. Four Celestion G12H 75 Hz from English production are used as loudspeakers. With tight low end growl, concise mids and crystal clear highs, the Cabinet in combination with the Laney LA100BL delivers a classic rock sound that makes every riff and solo a special experience. For particularly comfortable transport, the guitar speaker also has castors that can be easily removed using a click system.
Besides the Laney LA100BL and the Laney LA412 Cabinet, a modified Dallas Arbiter Rangemaster, which was accidentally disposed of by a guitar technician after a tour in 1979, was one of the core elements of Tony Iommis groundbreaking sound. With the Laney TI Boost, the British amp company is adding a booster effect pedal to the half stack, which demands the preamplifier of the amp hard and orientates itself to the sound of that pedal. Accordingly, the Laney TI Boost provides the perfect foundation for driving riffs with a significant bass cut while emphasizing the midrange. With a 2-band tone control and the three-stage mid-boost switch, the guitar effect pedal is particularly flexible in sound.
