This snare drum comes from the SQ2 high-end series by Sonor and is available in a limited edition of just 40 units exclusively at the Music Store. The shell is made from beech produces an extremely powerful sound and develops high volume. The shell hardware of this exceptional snare drum is padded with white rubber which results in a very nice contrast to the dark satin finish. Last but not least, cast hoops and the Dual Glide throw-off make the Sonor SQ2 snare a professional tool for studio and stage.
A 14"x6" beech shell is the base of this exclusive SQ2 snare drum. Only the finest beech from local forests which meets the professional requirements of the SQ2 series is processed. The design in vintage style has reinforcement rings on the upper and lower edge, which relieve pressure off the thin shell and add additional stability. The bearing edges are very neatly processed and feature a classic 45 ° angle. The bottom edge of the shell comes with a 3 mm deep snare bed which guarantees perfect positioning of the snare wires on the resonance head.
The hardware of the SQ2 Snare Drum is hardly to be surpassed in uniqueness. The double-lug style of the legendary Sonor Phonic series is accented with white rubber padding that stands out majestically from the matte black finish of the shell. Equipped with cast hoops which are probably considered as mandatory and the patented Dual Glide throw off, this snare is truly a statement. The throw-off system also allows quick exchange of heads. The snare wire features 24 strands which are made from high-quality bronze.
When it comes to heads, the Sonor SQ2 snare relies on something very proven: both the coated batter head and the clear resonance head feature medium strength and come from Remo USA. This configuration allows a very wide range of tuning for all kinds of musical styles. The tuning is done via the Sonor typical slotted tuning rod.
