The Fender Jaco Pastorius Jazz Bass 3-Color Sunburst is a fretless electric bass, which in many details is based on the legendary "Bass of Doom". Accordingly, this four-string bass features an alder body in classic offset design and a maple neck with a fretless pau-ferro fretboard. Furthermore two Fender American Vintage single-coils deliver versatile sounds with the typical singing fretless character. High-quality hardware equipment in traditional vintage style completes the Fender Jaco Pastorius Jazz Bass 3-Color Sunburst.
The Fender Jaco Pastorius Jazz Bass 3-Color Sunburst is based on the legendary "Bass of Doom" in design and features.
The neck plate bears the engraved signature of Jaco Pastorius.
Fender Jaco Pastorius Jazz Bass with fretless Pau Ferro fretboard
The design of the Fender Jaco Pastorius Jazz Bass is clearly based on the 1962 original of the legendary bassist. For example, the body is made of alder in the typical offset design without the usual pickguard. The slim maple neck is classically attached with four screws and, with its slim "C" profile, lies comfortably in the hand. Furthermore the fretless fretboard is made of Pau Ferro, in which thin fret lines help to hit every note accurately.
The Fender Jaco Pastorius Jazz Bass has no pickguard. Two Fender American Vintage single-coil pickups deliver versatile sounds.
American Vintage pickups
The Fender Jaco Pastorius Jazz Bass 3-Color Sunburst features two Fender American Vintage single-coil pickups, which transport the velvety attack and singing sustain of the fretless bass to the amp with harmonic naturalness. The classic passive electronics, which provide an individual volume control for each pickup and a global treble control, allow a wide range of different tones to be adjusted to support expressive electric bass playing.
In terms of hardware, the Fender Jaco Pastorius Jazz Bass draws inspiration from the original as well. The body is equipped with the classic Fender American Vintage bridge, which allows perfect adjustment of intonation and string action. From here the strings are led towards the headstock with the traditional 34" scale length (864 mm), whereby Fender vintage style tuners guarantee a stable and precise tuning.
