Built using traditional methods, the Gibson 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue has the feel and sound of the legendary "Holy Grails". Accordingly, the Gibson Custom Shop uses a one-piece mahogany body with correct plain maple top, while the mahogany neck is glued with a long neck base and carries a fretboard made of Indian rosewood. The use of glass-hard hide glue guarantees optimum sound development throughout the entire instrument. Furthermore, the strong "Chunky C-Shape" neck profile along with the 12" fretboard radius and the narrow frets provide the authentic playing feel.
The Gibson 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS Bourbon Burst gets two Gibson Custombuckers from the luthiers of the Gibson Custom Shop, which, with Alnico III magnets and unwaxed coils, prove to be authentic replicas of the legendary PAF humbuckers. They deliver a vibrant vintage sound with velvety lows, vocally singing mids and a breezy treble range that can be used to play both clean and distorted blues, jazz or rock songs. The pickups are controlled via the classic 3-way toggle switch circuit with separate volume and tone controls from CTS for each pickup. Authentic oil-paper capacitors furthermore promise particularly smooth treble cuts.
High-quality hardware equipment in authentic vintage style completes the Gibson 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS Bourbon Burst. Ted McCarty's well established combination of a Gibson No-Wire ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and a stopbar tailpiece made of aluminium not only guarantees perfect intonation but an easily playable string action as well. Behind the historically correct nylon nut at the headstock, the strings are held by Kluson tuners with authentic single-ring wings.
