The Replay Box from United is a dual transformer reamplification box that has been specially developed for the precise reamplification of audio signals. It offers a professional solution for sound engineers and musicians who want to route their recorded signals through amplifiers and effects without sacrificing sound quality. The device is equipped with two operating modes: Transparent mode, which delivers a pure and unadulterated signal, and Harmonic mode, which specifically adds warmth and character to the sound.
In Transparent mode, the Replay Box uses a specially developed 5043 step-up transformer that provides optimum signal separation and noise reduction. This mode is ideal for users looking for the purest sound, as the transformer delivers passive gain while providing an additional 3 dB of amplification. Harmonic mode, on the other hand, uses an alternative transformer that enriches the sound with subtle harmonic distortion and a warmer, fuller tone. This makes this mode particularly suitable for applications where a certain tonal coloration is desired.
The Replay Box has several connection options, including an XLR input, a 6.35mm jack output for connection to amplifiers and effects units and a thru/input socket that can drive a second Replay Box or other devices simultaneously. A ground lift switch eliminates potential hum noise caused by ground loops, while the phase switch allows 180° phase rotation to avoid phase problems.
The robust and compact design of the Replay Box makes it a durable companion in the studio. The carefully selected components, such as gold-plated switches and specially manufactured potentiometers, ensure a high quality of workmanship and a long service life.
